Parts 1 and 4

Let us see the beauty every day

And source our lives from its presence

Parts 2 and 3

I want to know if you can see the beauty
Even when it’s not pretty every day

And source your life from its presence

Notes

This song, composed by Laurence Cole, is based on a line from the poem “The Invitation” by Oriah Mountain Dreamer.  It reminds us to stop our mind and pay attention to what’s immediately at hand: come to our senses!

A rich, multilayered recording by Laurence and friends is included above, along with a simple two-part mix that is easy to teach to groups. In Parts 2 and 3, the rhythm is tricky on “and source your life from its presence” but it’s what gives the song its lilt, so it’s worth the effort to learn it.
